So what do guys look for in girls?

Let’s face it, there can never be a 100% definitive list, but here are some of the main contenders that keep popping up each time I ask single men this question – and in no particular order.

The vast majority of men like girls who;

• Know how to apply makeup and know how much of it to use
• Smell nice but not overpowering
• Take a pride in their appearance
• Have a good sense of humour, with a willingness to be saucy with it
• Show confidence and/or vulnerabilty and innocence
• Don’t spend their lives following celebrity goss
• Understand how to dress according to their build
• Know how to dress appropriately for the occasion
• Show their femininity irrespective of whether they are in jeans and a t-shirt or a dress
• Drink whatever they feel like drinking, be it a pint or glass of wine
• Don’t make a habit of swearing gratuitously
• Aren’t soap opera addicts
• Can be affectionate and tactile
• Don’t become obnoxious when drunk or regularly drink far too much
• Aren’t overly jealous or protective
• Don’t bitch overly unnecessarily
• Don’t flirt with their mates’ partners
• Still appreciate romance and chivalry
• Can show true compassion
• Believe that marriage doesn’t necessarily have to be the be-all-and-end-all
• Know what they want
• Are domesticated
• Like a bit of adventure from time to time
• Know when and how to be sexy

You may want to note that looks and build haven’t been mentioned here, because people’s tastes are so varied. But what I will say is that although guys are often initially attracted by girls whose features and bodies are easy on the eye, if the personalities are lacking in many of the above attributes, then the majority of guys will soon bring proceedings to an end. Guys are very much more into girls’ personalities than many girls think and realise.
